If a driver leaves after a crash, reporting the event and preserving the remaining proof can help an investigation and a coverage review.

## Reporting a hit-and-run in San Jose

You may have little information about the missing driver. A partial plate, vehicle color, witness, or video could still matter. The fact that a driver left does not by itself establish every insurance requirement. Your policy and California Insurance Code section 11580.2 need to be checked.

## Evidence that may identify the missing vehicle

Keep the report number, photos, and the names of people who saw the event. Record where nearby cameras were located without trying to enter private accounts or property. Tell your insurer what you know and separate facts from guesses. Check reporting and policy duties promptly rather than waiting for the driver to be found.

## Court decisions about san jose hit-and-run crashes: reports, evidence, and coverage

### Inter-Insurance Exchange of Automobile Club v. Lopez

(1965) 238 Cal.App.2d 441, pp. 443–446. An unknown car hit another car and pushed it into the insured car. The court treated that chain of contact as physical contact.

Limits: The case does not cover every no-contact crash. Current reporting, contact, and policy rules must be checked.
